Descending Shadows: Into the Dark

I was lost. I couldn't think straight, not with the kids in danger. I couldn't slay the Nazragadhs without putting them in harm's way. But right then, Arabella teleported all of the children away from the monsters and close to her. "Get them to safety!" I yelled. She nodded and teleported with them. And with the opening Arabella gave us, we charged forth and began to hew each Nazragadh, one by one. Moments later, we heard screams from the distance. "It's Arabella!" Leslie shouted. We rushed over there to find Arabella and the children already recaptured by three Nazragadhs. Arabella tried to break free from their grip, but she was out of breath. She was out of magic. I had no other option, so I decided to take a gamble; I dropped my blade and slowly walked towards the monsters, raising my arms to let them know I had surrendered. "Moon, what're you doing?" Nolan yelled, but Leslie held him back. Everyone was

I picked up my sword and joined Nolan and Leslie in the battle. We cut down many of the monsters, but the potency of the chemical began to wear off the longer we fought. By the time I went upstairs, all the monsters that had arrived at th

It was not long after we left the house that we were pursued by more monsters. The alien twins clung to me, trembling in fear. I told them that everything would be alright; that we would protect them, and everyone else, at all costs. They smiled and hugged me. The twins stayed with the children and the others who were unarmed as the rest of us walked up ahead and met the monsters in battle. The fight was long—one of the longest I had ever had. These monsters were stronger than the Serpians, but we cut them down, one by one, watching them turn to ashes as they crumbled to the ground. Once the battle was one and every last monster was slain, we decided to take a small rest and look for food. Everyone was famished, especially the children. More than food, what I needed was water. Moreover, every part of my body ached; I could barely move about after that clash. Another issue that crept into our midst was sundown. This was an unknown terrain, and if we were to aimlessly wa
